Georges Collinet and Sean Barlow's "Afropop Worldwide" is a weekly show featuring music of Africa and the African diaspora. Distributed by PRI on over 100 public radio stations in the US, Europe, and Africa, it presents a range of news, profiles, and music.

Cliff Furnald's "RootsRadio" offers themed shows (northern europe, music of spain, accordions & other free-reed instruments...) with artists draw on local roots from around the world. (Web radio only.)

Rob Weisberg's Transpacific Sound Paradise features a wonderfully eclectic range of world music from across the planet. (TO HEAR: Click above link, then click on any archived show, then click "Hear this Show" above the playlist.)

Martin Curti's "New World Buzz" is a monthly program featuring music & interviews with performers from around the world — tilting towards a modern/pop sound. (TO HEAR: Click above link, click red "Listen to Show" button; in pop-up window, enter ""NWBRADIO" for Username and Password, then hit Play arrow button.)

John Kertzer's "Best Ambiance" draws upon his collection of thousands of African CD's and LP's, covering highlife, mbalax, rai, soukous, mbaqanga, chimurenga, benga, maskanda, Wassoulou, juju, kwaito, shaabi music, and more. Also live interviews and performances. It's live every Monday 6:00pm - 9:00 pm (PST) on KEXP 90.3 fm in Seattle.

Darek Mazzone's "Wo' Pop" features world-pop artists from New Zealand to New Delhi, Bulgaria to Puerto Rico, on the top World Music radio program in the Northwest. It's live every Tuesday 6:00pm - 9:00 pm (PST) on KEXP 90.3 fm in Seattle.

John Schaefer's "New Sounds" features innovative new music and composers across every style, genre, and country. It's live every night 11 pm - midnight (EST) on 93.9-fm WNYC.

"Global Hits" is a daily segment on BBC's "The World" offering a profile and music of one artist each day from around the globe. (This link is to their archive of all the "Global Hits" music segments.)

Kid Hops'"Positive Vibrations" explores all styles of Jamaican music, joining the dots between Ska, Rocksteady, Roots Reggae, Dub, and Dancehall. It's live every Saturday 9:00 am - Noon (PST) on KEXP 90.3 fm in Seattle.

Afrodicia features music and interviews of African musicians of all stripes. It's live on KPFK 90.7 fm in Los Angeles Saturdays 2-4 p.m. (PST)

Radio Paradise offers a non-stop eclectic rock mix, including a share of world and roots-based music (Orchestra Baobob, Los Lobos, Peter Gabriel, BVistaSClub, etc.). This is a web-based station, with an active listener community who helps nominate and select the music, so expect interesting stuff.

Scott Stevens' "Spin the Globe" is another heady mix of truly globe-trotting world music. Hear it webcast live Fridays, 10-Noon (Pacific Time), or on KAOS 89.3FM in Olympia, WA.

Cliff Furnald spins more of his Roots Radio love from every sound on the third planet in his biweekly on-air radio show. Hear it webcast live alternate Mondays, 2–6 PM (EST) [click here, then on "listener line"] or on WKPN 89.5 fm Bridgeport, CT.

On Charlie Bethel's "Passport" musics from Indonesian gamelan to Moroccan Gnawa to Brazilian Samba— collide in a rootsy, rhythmic, trans-continental, cornucopia. Hear it webcast live Tuesdays, 8:00pm - 9:00 pm (EST), or on WNYU 89.1 fm in New York.

Lawrence Nii Nartley's "The African Show" features African music, news, and politics and is the longest running African show in New York (founded by Joe Mensah, co-hosted by the legendary Babatunde Olatunji until the late 1970's.) Hear it webcast live Thursdays 9:30pm - 11:30pm (EST) or on WKCR 89.9 fm in New York.

Ray Funk's "Funk Roots" is an eclectic mix of world music, soul, country, swing, jazz, African pop, zouk, soca, folk, blues, gospel, klezmer, bluegrass, surf, rockabilly, ragtime, cajun, flamenco, calypso, steelband, tango, a capella, zydeco, rhythm and blues and more. Hear it webcast live Sundays 7-9 pm (PST) on 89.9-fm KUAC Alaska.

George Preston's "Overnight Music" features classical music, new composers, and occasional forays into new jazz and world music. Hear it webcast live every night midnight to 4:00 a.m. (EST) on 93.9-fm WNYC. Shows with live interviews are archived by monthon the web.

"The Upper Room with Joe Kelley" is a mix of just about everything, include some adventurous world music by artists we dig. Hear it webcast live Mondays 4-8pm (EST) or on WVOF 88.5 fm Fairfield, CT.

 

Local radio (no webcast)

Casey Mallinckrodt's "Night Jazz" offers jazz from all over the spectrum, avant-garde to swing to world-music-influenced. Hear it on 98.1 FM / 1020 AM WKZE from Sharon, CT—Sundays 8-11 p.m.
