Musica Mundi
|
Musica Mundi Musica Mundi is a five member Latin/World Jazz ensemble, primarily performing
original compositions by the band's music director and classical guitarist,
Terry Herald.
Combining an extensive background as a film composer with his experience as music director for jazz artists such as Earl Klugh, Alexander Zonjic and Wendell Harrison, Herald has developed an infectious, melodic collection of tunes. Percussionist Mark Stone's unique "drum kit," consisting of original South American and African instruments, forms the basis for Musica Mundi's fluid rhythms. Internationally renowned jazz bassist, Dan Kolton, not only propels the ensemble rhythmically, but adds a sensuous melodic element. As the band's principal melodic voice, violinist Sonia Lee adds both passion and grace. A graduate of Julliard and youngest Principal Violinist in the history of the Toronto Symphony, Sonia's pristine technique combines with her fearless melodic imagination to create some breathtaking musical stories of exotic places. Balancing the power of the violin, world guitarist Scott Loudon completes the band's unique sonic identity with improvisational skills on a variety of stringed instruments. |
